New Delhi : Giving relief to accident victims, the Delhi High Court Thursday asked the insurance companies to pay interim compensation within 30 days of the incident.
Justice J.R. Midha asked the Delhi Police to file a report with the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) within 30 days, and said the same will later be treated as claims petition by the court.
While hearing an accident claim case, the court observed that since these cases took a lot of time for final disposal, an interim compensation should be given to the victims.
The Delhi Police have been asked to take the victims before the tribunal within a stipulated period of 30 days.
The insurance companies will also deposit a percentage of the claim amount, as decided by the court, and that money will be given to the victim as interim relief.
The court also constituted an expert committee comprising the transport secretary and members of insurance companies, so that the guidelines can be implemented in a better manner.
