Businessman injured in Mumbai firing, assailants held

Mumbai : A businessman was injured when he was shot at by two men near his home here late Wednesday, police said, adding that the assailants had been caught.

Two people opened fire at Mahesh Bhandari, a dealer in electronic goods, in Lallubhai Park area of Andheri West here.

Bhandari sustained a bullet injury in his thigh and was rushed to the R.N. Cooper Hospital in Juhu.

The assailants tried to flee the scene of crime, but a police patrol team in the vicinity managed to catch them. The two have been identified as Farhad Khan and Rakesh Padave, an official of the Juhu police station said.

Preliminary investigations indicate that business rivalry was the reason behind the firing.
