Islamabad : Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Muhammad Nawaz Sharif underlined that no agreement of deportation was settled with the government, and stressed that the Supreme Court had already given its judgement on his return, Online news agency reported Monday.
Sharif, speaking to reporters before being deported to Saudi Arabia from Islamabad airport, said there is no justification for deporting him, especially after the Supreme Court ruled that he waas free to return home.
Sharif said that he had no clue whatsoever about his arrest warrant.
PML-N has filed contempt of court petition with the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The petition filed by PML-N leader Khawaja Asif states that the government by sealing Islamabad airport and detaining the former prime minister for over four hours in violation of the Supreme Court orders had committed contempt of the court.
The petition demanded the Supreme Court’s immediate intervention and action against the government for committing contempt of the court.
Reacting to the allegations, Attorney General of Pakistan Justice (retd) Malik Qayyum said that the arrest of Sharif does not come under the case of contempt as the Supreme Court has allowed him to return to the country but there were no directives that he would not be arrested.
Qayyum said that Sharif has been allowed to return into the country according to the verdict of the Supreme Court, but his arrest is also according to the law.
He said that any notice of contempt of court would be responded if served.
