Monirujjaman Molla, 31, Akash Mufazel Haq, 28, Hemant Kumar Dabral, 39, Hari Kishan, 22, Shweta, 20, and Mamuni Dass, 26, were arrested late Thursday for trying to extort Rs.370,000 from Manoj Sood, who lives in Malviya Nagar.

“Sood had hired Shweta from the Royal Domestic Centre placement agency. He caught her stealing gold from the house soon after her arrival. Sood let her go after she apologised and agreed not to repeat the incident,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (south Delhi) H.G.S. Dhaliwal.

“After a few days, Shweta started acting rude towards the family members. Sood called up the agency and told them to send another maid to which they readily agreed. On Wednesday, Sood got a call from the agency owner Molla asking them to pay up Rs.370,000 otherwise Shweta would file a false rape case against him,” he added.
