New Delhi : Do not get surprised the next time you are approached by an English-speaking porter at the railway stations here as Railways have launched an unique programme to hone their English speaking capabilities ahead of the Commonwealth Games.

Taking a cue from China which launched soft skill programmes for taxi cabs ahead of the Beijing Olympics, Railways rolled out the initiative today covering 50 licenced porters from the three major railway stations — New Delhi, Delhi and Nizamuddin.

“They would also serve as a one stop-point both for foreign tourists and domestic travellers providing information about places of tourist interests, taxi fares and the Commonwealth Games stadia among others,” DRM Delhi division Ashwini Lohani said.
