Melbourne: India’s Somdev Devvarman and Prakash Amritraj moved into the second round of the Australian Open tennis qualifiers while Yuki Bhambri lost in the first round Wednesday.
Somdev defeated Australian James Duckworth 6-2, 6-1 in the first round while Amritraj came through a tough match against Germany’s Andre Begemann, winning 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Yuki Bhambri, however, lost to Jan Minar of the Czech Republic 6-3, 3-6, 3-6.
Somdev will next play Tobias Kamke of Germany while Amritraj will take on Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France.
