New Delhi : External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna will leave for Nepal Friday on a two-day official visit, his first since assuming office, said a statement here Thursday.
“At the invitation of Sujata Koirala, deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Nepal, S.M. Krishna, minister of external affairs of India, will pay an official visit to Nepal Jan 15-17,” said the statement.
This would be Krishna’s first visit to Nepal after becoming minister of external affairs. The visit is in consonance with the ongoing high-level bilateral interaction between the two countries, the statement said.
During the visit, Krishna will call on President Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
“He will hold talks with his counterpart and meet some other Nepalese leaders. The purpose of the visit is to exchange views on strengthening and deepening our bilateral relations with Nepal,” the statement added.
