Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president Suresh Kalmadi, who brokered peace between the players and Hockey India (HI) over a payment dispute, spoke to the players before the camp reopened at the Balewadi Sports Complex. He also spoke to chief coach Jose Brasa and national coach Harendra Singh.

Singer-actor Salma Agha, who has promised some fund raising shows for the players, was also present.

India forward Prabhjot Singh said that they are now looking forward to giving their best at next month’s World Cup.

“We have left all the issues behind and our focus will be to perform well at the World Cup,” he said.

HI officials heaved a sigh of relief with the players finally relenting and returning to the camp.

“It has been a tough road for us. We want the players to do well. We have to make sure that we get the financial support that has been pledged so that we can clear their dues,” said an HI official.
