Kolkata: B.K. Birla group company Kesoram Industries Ltd has posted net profit of Rs.36.83 crore for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2009, against Rs.39.15 crore for the corresponding quarter of 2008-09, a company statement said here Thursday.
It is a diversified B.K. Birla flagship conglomerate having interest in tyres, cement, rayon yarn and transparent paper with a focus on two core business segments – tyres, which accounted for 57 percent, and cement 38 percent of the turnover in nine months ended Dec 31, 2009.
The company has an installed cement capacity of 7.25 million tonnes per annum in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh with captive power plants. The Vasavadatta Cement Plant of the company has a manufacturing capacity of 5.75 million tonnes.
In tyres, the total capacity at the Orissa Plant has been augmented to 271 tonnes per day. It is in the process of implementing passenger or LCV radial tyres of 80 tonnes per day at a cost of Rs.450 crore. This is expected to commence production by December 2010.
