“He was discharged from the hospital. He is currently at his home and keeping well,” an official of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) told IANS.

On Saturday morning, a team of doctors led by N.P. Gupta, head of the department of urology at AIIMS, conducted endoscopy operation to treat a benign enlargement of the prostate gland.

The doctors had said that the growth was only age-related and “non-cancerous,” and the 75-year-old prime minister had the prostate problem for over a year.

Only close family members were allowed to meet him during his four days stay in a private ward of AIIMS.

The doctors have advised Manmohan Singh to take soups and juices regularly for a few days.

In May 2006, the prime minister had undergone a minor surgery on his left wrist at the Army Hospital (Research and Referral) here after a similar surgical procedure on his right wrist in October 2005.
