Ahmedabad: Former Gujarat chief minister Keshubhai Patel has been relegated from the post of chairman to a member in the state advisory committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which has announced 14 new faces in the party’s new list of 20 office bearers.
No new chairman’s name figures in the list that was announced by the Gujarat BJP late Friday evening.
The party has given preference to women and youth in the list that names only 20 of the 26 members. Four Rajya Sabha MPs and two legislators have been included in the new list.
The party has included three women in the list of six vice-presidents. They are Ramila Bara, former legislator of Khedbrahma; Sushma Agrawal, former deputy mayor of Surat and Nauka Prajapati, president of Bhabhar Municipality of Banaskantha.
Ajay Choksi, former mayor of Surat is also in the list of vice-presidents as is I.K. Jadeja, spokesperson for the BJP.
Bhikhu Dalsania, Bharatsinh Parmar and Vijay Rupani will continue as the organisational general secretaries.
Shankar Chaudhary, legislator of Radhanpur is the new addition to the team of general secretaries. The party has also added a few new names to the state secretary cadre.
Bharat Pandya, former legislator of Dhandhuka and head of the recently concluded member registration process, has been appointed as a state secretary. Jitu Waghani, president of the state youth cell, Niru Kamalia, former deputy mayor of Junagadh and Amita Parmar of Navsari are also in the list.
Rajya Sabha MP Surendra Patel has been reappointed as the treasurer.
Former chief minister Keshubhai Patel, former state president Purushottam Rupala, Bhavnagar MP Rajendrasinh Rana, finance minister Vaju Vala, former minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, revenue minister Anandiben Patel, Minister of state for law Amit Shah, former general secretaries Anant Dave, Jayanti Barot and former minister Nitin Patel are members of the state advisory committee.
Zaver Chavda, former vice-president, has been appointed as chairman of the disciplinary committee of the BJP.
