New Delhi: Following the exposure of the Batla House encounter autopsy report, the demand for judicial probe into the September 2008 shootout is once again being made by Muslim religious and social organizations along with human rights activists. Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadeeth Hind, first Muslim organization to do so, has today demanded a probe into the shootout to clear doubts in the mind of common people.
Talking to TwoCircles.net, Maulana Asghar Ali Imam Mahadi Salafi, General Secretary, Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadeeth Hind, said the post-mortem report of those killed in the encounter has further strengthened the demand for enquiry. Jamiat Ahle Hadeeth is the first Muslim religious group which has repeated its demand for probe following the autopsy.
“Since the day one, Muslim organizations and other justice loving non-Muslim groups and individuals have been demanding a probe into the Batla House encounter as its genuineness is doubtful. This is necessary so that doubt could be removed from the mind of common people and their confidence in the system could be restored. This will bring into open whether the encounter was genuine or fake. The post-mortem report has further strengthened the demand for enquiry,” Maulana Salafi said.
On why despite these doubts government is not agreeing to a probe, he said: “The government itself should answer why it is not allowing a probe. However, Muslim organizations and other human rights groups still stand on their demand for probe. The probe will better the image of the government.”
Two Azamgarh youth Atif Ameen and Mohd Sajid, alleged terror suspects, were gunned down in an encounter on September 19, 2008 in Batla House area of Jamia Nagar in New Delhi. Only last week the autopsy report of the two was brought into public. The report said the two had injuries of blunt object besides gunshots.
