New Delhi : As many as 373 cases of cruelty against animals were registered in the country in the last three years, Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said Wednesday.
Replying to a question in the Lok Sabha, Ramesh said, of the 373 cases, 123 cases were reported in 2007-08 followed by 110 cases in 2008-09 and 140 in 2009-10.
He said the performance of Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) was regularly monitored so that cruelty against animals can be minimised.
