Lucknow : A criminal wanted in over 30 cases of attempt to murder, loot and abduction was killed in a gun battle with police in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh district, an official said Thursday.
Suresh Baghel, 35, was shot dead late Wednesday in Kwarsi, some 400 km from here.
“Acting on a tip, we intercepted Baghel, who with his two associates started firing at the police team. We responded and shot dead Baghel. His aides escaped,” police officer Jaspal Tomar said in Aligarh.
Two policemen suffered bullet injuries but they were out of danger. Baghel also had links with criminals in Bihar and Delhi.
