“The 2G Spectrum contracts given out in 2008 saw the involvement of minister A. Raja in large scale corruption. The CBI investigation which included telephone tapping has confirmed the wrong-doing of the minister,” the CPI-M said in a statement.

“The central committee demands the removal of A. Raja from the ministership and a thorough probe into the telecom scam,” it said.

The CPI-M also alleged that the illegal mining activities of the Reddy brothers of Bellary such as the Obulapuram mining project has had the protection of both the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Karnataka.

“Thousands of crores of rupees are being made though such illegal mining activities,” it said.
