New Delhi : A 48-year-old man was Thursday crushed under the wheels of a speeding Blueline while trying to board it near the capital’s business hub Connaught Place, police said.
Identified as Naseem, the victim came under the wheels of the bus, plying on route no 450 between Karol Bagh and Lajpat Nagar, near Panchkuiyan road bus stand at around 4.00 p.m.
Naseem, a resident of Bara Hindu Rao, died on the spot.
“We have arrested the driver Gopal and a case of negligent driving has been registered against him,” said a police official.
The capital has over 4,000 Blueline buses, which form a crucial part of the city’s public transport system. Known as “killer buses”, these claimed over 100 lives last year.
The buses face public ire having figured in a large number of fatal accidents in recent months.
