New Delhi : The mercury level may have dipped a bit but the Indian capital sizzled Friday, with the maximum temperature touching 43.2
degrees Celsius, making it the hottest May 14 since 2005.
“The maximum temperature today was three degrees above the average,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
According to IMD data, the maximum temperature recorded last year on May 14 was 40 degrees Celsius. It was 38 degrees in 2008 and 2007, 41 in 2006, and 42 degrees Celsius in 2005.
On Thursday, the capital recorded a maximum temperature of 44.4 degrees
Celsius, four notches above the average.
The minimum temperature recorded Friday was 29 degrees Celsius, four
degrees above average for this time of the year
“On Saturday, the skies will be partly cloudy and we expect some areas to experience dust and thunderstorms ,” the official added.
