Chandigarh : The state Election Commission Sunday ordered a re-poll at 33 polling stations in Haryana where panchayat (village council) polls were held Saturday, an official said.
“Re-polling would be held from 7.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 14. The main reason behind this is error in the printing of ballot papers, eruption of violence, snatching and destruction of ballot papers, electronic voting machines, ballot boxes and other election material,” state election commissioner Dharam Vir said.
The re-poll will be held in Bhiwani, Mewat and Jind districts.
“Re-poll has been ordered on the recommendations of the deputy commissioners-cum-district election officers and concerned returning officers,” he said.
Polls to elect sarpanchs (village headmen), panchs (village council members), members of panchayat samitis (council committees) and members of zila parishads (district-level bodies) were held in two phases June 6 and 12.
