Rajeena’s series of articles titled ‘Inganeyaanu oru nagaram gramathe vizhungunnath’ (meaning ‘This is how a city swallows a village’) published in the daily brought her the award. The series was about Neliyanparambu, the village where all the wastes of the city of Calicut are dumped.

The award will be presented by state Minister of Forests Binoy Vishwom at the state conference of the Association in Kalpetta on July 3.

Rajeena has also won the prestigious ‘Keraleeyam’ Prize for Environment Media Fellowship in 2009, being the first Muslim woman to win it.
