New Delhi: The corporate affairs ministry Thursday said it will organise awareness camps across the country to attract investments into the corporate sector.
“There is significant household savings available with Indian households which can be channelised into the corporate economy which will result in not only higher returns for the investors but also more growth of the corporate sector,” said the ministry in a statement.
According to the ministry, less than 1 percent of the population invest in the corporate sector as against the 15 percent in some of the developed countries.
The ministry has partnered with professional institutes, trade and industry chambers, stock exchanges, the Securities and Exchange Board of India, the Reserve Bank of India and the department of public enterprises to reach out to a large number of investors throughout the year.
The campaign will start July 13 with the India Investor week in five metro cities: Kolkata, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai.
Industry chambers like the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Southern India Chamber of Commerce and Industry will be the lead organisers.
The ministry said it would also launch a investor awareness website in 12 regional languages during this week along with investor and beginners guides in English and regional languages.
