Sultanul Madaris in Lucknow receives annual grant after nine years

Lucknow: The Sultanul Madaris, an eminent seat of shia theology in Lucknow got a shot in the arm after it received a grant of Rs four lakh from Hussainabad and Allied Trust on Tuesday. This is the first time the madarsa received any financial help in past nine years. Further the trust also decided to double its annual grant to the madarsa.
“We knew that the madarsa needed urgent funds to sail through, it is an important place of learning in Lucknow. The last funds were sanctioned in 1991. It got Rs one lakh then and another Rs four lakh was pending and it has been cleared,” said ADM (West) OP Pathak who also is the secretary of Hussainabad and Allied Trust.

Meanwhile the District Magistrate (DM) AK Sagar, the head of the trust also announced that the annual grant of the madarsa has been hiked from present Rs 25000 to Rs 50000. “We will try that the annual grant now reaches on time at the madarsa,” said Pathak.

The Madarasa is situated on Jagat Narain road, just opposite CSM Medical University (CSMMU) the erstwhile King George Medical College.
