Geithner met the Indian delegation of the US-India Aspen Strategy Group (ASG) here Tuesday and “discussed a broad range of issues including the G-20’s commitment to create strong, sustainable and balanced global growth”, the Treasury Department said.

He also discussed with the Indian team progress being made on deepening of capital markets and on macroeconomic issues.

Since Geithner’s Delhi visit in April to launch the US-India Economic and Financial Partnership, the Treasury Department has initiated working groups focused on these issues.

Founded in 1984, ASG is a programme of the prestigious Aspen Institute. It is a bipartisan forum composed of current and former politicians, civil servants, academics, journalists and business leaders who discuss issues of key importance in the realms of foreign policy, strategy and international security.

Starting with an inaugural trip to India in January 2002, the ASG “US-India Strategic Dialogue” has focused on US diplomatic, military and economic relations between the two countries.

ASG convenes the US-India Strategic Dialogue in conjunction with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
