The outgoing PCC chief will be compensated with a cabinet rank position as chairman of the Minorities Commission, sources said.

Soz may be replaced either by Education Minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed who was PCC president till January 2008, or by Congress legislature party leader Choudhary Mohammad Aslam.

“This change will be effected as soon as the situation in Kashmir subsides,” said a senior party leader on the condition of anonymity.

Soz has been in trouble for his pro-separatist utterances and condemnation of security forces every now and then, sources said.

Besides, he had launched a campaign against his own partymen in the state, particularly those loyal to union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad.
