TN Governor discloses his deep love for Urdu

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Governor Surjit Singh Barnala on Monday extolled the virtues of Urdu language and said, “With public support only, I believe Urdu will have a rebirth.” He was speaking at the released of Urdu translation of Chinna Kuthoosi’s Tamil book on Dr. Kalaignar, a collection of writings printed in both Nakkeeran, a Tamil weekly, and Murasoli, the mouthpiece of DMK.

He remembered his love for the Urdu language, saying he preferred always a Urdu translation first whenever he wrote a book. He recalled how the Urdu phrases would occur first to his mind before he penned in English.

The launch was held at the Tamil Nadu State Urdu Conference 2010.

At the occasion, it was brought to his knowledge that a large number of vacancies for Urdu teachers in primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools at both government and aided schools are yet to be filled. Mukthar Badri, Convenor, Tamil Nadu State Urdu Conference 2010 submitted a memorandum to Mr. Barnala in this regard.
