New Delhi : Two and three wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company Friday reported a 31 percent rise, the highest ever, in monthly sales in September as against the like period of last year.
“During the month total two wheeler sales of the company grew 30 percent with sales of 184,783 units against 142,553 units recorded in September 2009,” the company said in a statement.
Segment-wise, scooter sales jumped 44 percent last month at 43,086 units as against 29,984 units, while motorcycles sales logged a growth of 34 percent at 81,381 units as against 60,718 units in the same period of 2009.
Cumulative, three wheeler sales for the period of April to September zoomed 224 percent and stood at 17,755 units over the same period of the previous year.
“Exports witnessed a 89 percent growth in sales. The company exported 19,365 two wheelers in September 2010 in comparison with 10,272 units in September 2009,” statement added.
Domestic sales of TVS also saw a 25 percent growth with sales of 165,418 units as against 132,281 units in the same period of 2009.
According to the company, the cumulative two wheeler sales for the period increased by 32 percent with sales recorded at 971,039 units against 737,480 units in the corresponding period of last year.
