Mumbai : A benchmark index of Indian equities Friday ended 377 points higher on the first day of the October futures series.
The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,094.1 points, closed at 20,446.21 points (provisional), up 377.09 points or 1.88 percent, from its previous close at 20,069.12 points.
At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty ended at 6,147.5 points, up 1.95 percent.
Broader markets also ended among gains. The BSE midcap closed 1.64 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index 1.56 percent up.
