New Delhi: Couple of days after united shock and denouncement of the Ayodhya verdict, elements from within the Muslim community are coming up, showing support to the verdict, some going one step ahead has announced donation for Ram Temple.
The September 30 Allahabad High Court verdict in the 60-year-old Babri Masjid title suit was received by the entire Indian Muslim community with a huge shock and denouncement. Some key organizations like All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Sunni Wakf Board went public about their feeling over the verdict and indicated they will move Supreme Court.
However, after initial shock period some tiny elements are publicly announcing their different views on the verdict and a Shia group has declared to give Rs 15 lakh for construction of the Ram Temple at the site.
Announcing a donation of Rs.15 lakh for starting the construction of the much-debated temple at Ayodhya, a Shia youth organization, Shia Hussaini Tigers, opposed any move to appeal against the Allahabad High Court verdict. “We will make a formal request to the Sunni Central Waqf Board not to go into appeal against the high court verdict, and to bring an end to the long pending dispute once and for all,” group chief Shamil Shamsi told media on October 2. He also informed that a delegation of the group will approach the All India Muslim Personal Law Board with the same appeal.
A special three-judge bench of the Allahabad High Court’s Lucknow bench on September 30 ruled, with a majority verdict, that the place where the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya stood, before it was razed by Hindu mobs in 1992, was indeed the birthplace of Hindu god Ram. The bench also ordered that the disputed land be divided equally among Muslims, Hindus and Nirmohi Akhara. The court also said that Ram Lalla will not be removed from its present place.
Meanwhile, Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association Delhi Chapter has said that the verdict Ramjanmbhoomi-Babri Masid dispute has strengthened Muslims’ faith in Indian Constitution and judicial system. Mr Khaja Shahid, President of the unit, told media in a press conference on the same day at India Islamic Cultural Centre in New Delhi.
Mr Shahid was of the opinion that we should try our best to avoid anything which may endanger our lives and properties and should do everything to strengthen the secular fabric and the judicial system of the country. But when asked if this verdict helps in that direction he said the verdict helps in strengthening the faith of the Muslim community in the country’s constitutional and judicial system. He, however, clarified that if any party has some grievances with the verdict they can go to the Supreme Court.
But Ms Arfa Khanum, the Senior Vice President of the association said that with this judgement neither Muslims lost nor Hindus won but it’s a loss to the country as a whole.
