New Delhi : The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) is removing the stench from the drain below the elevated Barapullah corrridor that is being used by the Commonwealth Games athletes and delegates when travelling from the Village, an official said Wednesday.
The athletes and delegates complained about stink emanating from the drain.
“Since yesterday (Tuesday) the civic body is removing the stench from the drain. The corporation is using bio-remediation technique to clean the water and make it free of the stink,” MCD spokesperson Deep Mathur told IANS.
Te MCD official also said the work would be completed within the next few days.
After complaints from lots of tourists, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had directed Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta to find a quick solution to the stink emanating from the drain.
The Barapullah corrridor is between Sarai Kale Khan and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
