Bangalore : It will be a wet Diwali for Bangaloreans as the north-east monsoon is active. The city was drenched Thursday afternoon and the Met department expects rains Friday as well.
The rains began at 3 p.m. and lasted till 5.30 p.m. The Met department recorded 10.4 mm of rainfall.
“These are north-east monsoon rains. It will be same Friday also,” a department spokesperson told IANS.
With the depression over Bay of Bengal threatening to turn into cyclone, the city seems to be in for heavy rains.
“The effect of depression will be felt in two days as it is still 1,250 km east-southeast of Chennai and 1,300 km southeast of Visakhapatanam (in Andhra Pradesh),” he said.
Bangalore and several parts of Karnataka receive both south-east monsoon from June to September and north-east monsoon — active during October-December.
