Lucknow: Seven employees of Uttar Pradesh’s health department were suspended Thursday for their alleged involvement in organising a vulgar dance programme in the premises of a government office here, officials said.
The action against the seven staffers, including three officers, followed a preliminary enquiry conducted by a three-member committee constituted on the direction of Director General Medical and Health S.P. Ram.
The dance was performed by girls during the oath-taking ceremony function organised Wednesday by the Ministerial Staff Association, an association of employees of the health department.
The vulgar dance programme was held in the premises of the Uttar Pradesh Health Directorate in the Qaiserbagh area.
Besides the obscene dance, liquor was also reportedly served during the function.
According to a government press statement, those suspended are: Director Health and Family Welfare Ramji Lal, Additional Director Medical and Health R.B. Singh, Joint Director Medical and Health Ramesh Chandra and four other employees – Sudhir Kumar Chaturvedi, Jaiveer Prasad Gautam, Hanuman Prasad and Vinod Kumar.
