Gaza : Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine announced Sunday its responsibility for firing a number of mortar shells towards two targets in South Israel.
A statement by the brigades said its gunners fired six 100-mm mortar shells at two Israeli military targets, today, east of Kissufim and four similar shells at a plant in Sufa.
It said these operations were in revenge for continuous “Israeli crimes and attacks on the Palestinian people”.
For his side, an Israeli Army spokesman said 15 missiles were unleashed in the direction of southern Israel between late last night and early this morning.
He said these missiles targeted Sderot which caused fear and chaos among residents.
The attacks caused material damage but no casualties were reported, he added.
Earlier today, An Israeli police spokesman said recently, 125 Palestinian missiles were fired at Israel, particularly Sderot, from northern Gaza.
These statements were made shortly before an Israeli government meeting scheduled today to discuss means to retaliate for such attacks.
