Kabul : Thirty Taliban militants gave up insurgency in Afghanistan’s Ghor province and surrendered to authorities Wednesday, Xinhua reported.
“A group of 30 armed men under commander Mullah Mohammad Yousuf surrendered to the government in the provincial capital Chaghcharan this morning,” Abdullah Heiwad, the governor of Ghor province, was quoted as saying.
Ghor is situated some 360 km west of Afghan capital Kabul.
The Taliban militants were active in anti-government activities in Shahrak district and their surrender would strengthen government control there, the governor said.
