Earlier, the teachers belonging to 17 madarsas run by Iram Educational Society did not turn up while the education department was forced to defer the dates twice.

The ambitious project of enhancing the skills of madarsa teachers was halted in Lucknow after the second batch of teachers who are being imparted 15 days training by education department failed to turn up for training. The training sponsored by Minority Welfare Department and conducted at District Institute of Educational Training (DIET) is part of the madarsa modernisation programme. The teachers of madarsa who had never seen a computer and stick to the conventional approach are offered practical training on various aspects.

On Monday, 46 teachers from the total strength of 50 turned up for training in DIET, Lucknow. District Minority Welfare Officer (DMWO) Vijay Pratap Yadav stated that initially there was some resistance but now they have reported for training. “We have issued instructions that salaries of the teachers will be stopped while action against the management will be taken. It is good that they have reported for training,” said Yadav.

A total of 127 teachers from 29 madarsas are to be offered training in DIET Lucknow. They will be given practical training through a specially designed training module Rehnuma (mentor) for the teachers.

“The module is customised to their requirements by the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT). It includes activity based classroom management, language teaching, mathematics and others.

Exposure to computer and audio visual aids is also provided,” stated Principal DIET, Lalita Pradeep.
