Mumbai: The Xavier Institute of Management and Research (XIMR) here Thursday launched its first “Centre for Africa Studies” in association with Makerere University Business School of Uganda, an official said.
Inaugurated by E.M. Barine, deputy high commissioner of the Republic of Kenya, and Waswa Balunywa, principal of Makerere University Business School, the centre will initially cater to students of XIMR pursuing their masters programme in management studies.
The programme at a later stage will be offered to corporate houses and professionals aspiring to expand their horizons on Africa.
“The XIMR and Markere University Business School will shoulder the responsibility of enhancing the development of the people of emerging nations,” said Fr. Paul Vaz, XIMR’s director general.
The primary objective of this centre is to prepare students for international assignments in Africa.
