The three – Dileep Padgaonkar, Radha Kumar and M.M. Ansari – visited the parents of the two girls who had been killed by unknown gunmen in the town Jan 31.

The parents of the girls demanded action against those responsible for the killing besides a government job for their son.

“The sole purpose of our visit today to Sopore is to meet the family. The family is extremely poor and they have very little to fall back upon.

“The family has a young son who is reading in 10th class and steps need to be taken to ensure that the boy is able to continue his studies,” Padgaonkar told reporters.

He also said the interlocutors had written to Kashmiri separatist leaders inviting them to a dialogue.

“We have so far heard nothing from them. We are still waiting for their response,” Padgaonkar reiterated.

Later, the interlocutors visited the north Kashmir Handwara town in Kupwara district to meet the family of the 21-year old youth, Manzoor Ahmad Magray, who was killed in an ambush by the army on Feb 5.
