“Rohit Singh, 30, and his accomplice Arjun Singh, 25, who hail from Jamui in Bihar, were arrested from Ashram Chowk bus stand in south Delhi Wednesday,” said a senior police officer.

“Rohit Singh decamped with cash and jewellery after his employer — Arjun Popli — had gone to attend a party Feb 18,” police said.

Rohit Singh joined as cook Feb 17 at Popli’s house at Greater Kailash-I in south Delhi after giving a fake identity. Arjun helped in making the fake driving licence.

During interrogation, Rohit told police that he was using a stolen driving licence as identity proof after pasting his own photograph on it. He also told police that he hid the stolen jewellery at his native place in Bihar.

“A white gold chain with diamond pendant worth Rs.4.5 lakh was recovered from his home in his native place,” said the officer.

Rohit is involved in at least two similar cases of theft worth lakhs of rupees in Mumbai and Kolkata, police added.
