Chennai : Indian middle-order batsman Yuvraj Singh Sunday became the first player to receive the Man of the Match award three times in the 2011 World Cup.
Yuvraj stroked 113 runs off 123 balls and picked 2-18 during India’s 80-run win over the West Indies at Chepauk here. He is the first to post a hundred and three fifties in this edition.
Yuvraj is also the first Indian batsman to score a hundred at Chepauk, Chennai at the World Cup and also the first Indian all-rounder to strike a hundred and bag two wickets in the same game. He is now the ninth all-rounder to do so, joining Aamir Sohail, Aravinda de Silva, Neil Johnson, Feiko Kloppenburg, Sanath Jayasuriya, Ryan ten Doeschate, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Paul Stirling.
The 29-year-old has so far claimed nine wickets at an average of 25.22 — his best bowling performance in a competition, improving his eight wickets from seven matches at an average of 27.75 in the Coca Cola Cup in 2001 in Sri Lanka.
He has averaged 51.07 in Indian triumphs, aggregating 5,465 in 155 matches, including 10 hundreds and 36 fifties.
* West Indies pacer Ravi Rampaul took 5-51 for his career-best figure in ODIs and he became the fifth Caribbean bowler to capture five wickets in a World Cup innings, joining Winston Davis, Kemar Roach, Vasbert Drakes (twice) and Joel Garner.
His previous best figures were 4-37 against India at Kingston June 28,2009.
He is now the second West Indian and the sixth overall to bag five wickets on World Cup debut, joining Winston Davis (7-51 against Australia at Leeds, June 11, 1983), Gary Gilmour (6-14 against England at Leeds, June 18, 1975), Austin Codrington (5-27 against Bangladesh at Durban, Feb 11, 2003), Dennis Lillee (5-34 against Pakistan at Leeds, June 7, 1975) and Damien Fleming (5-36 against India at Mumbai, Feb 27, 1996).
Rampaul’s five wickets in a World Cup game here are the first by any bowler, eclipsing the four for 15 by England’s Stuart Broad against South Africa March 6, 2011.

* Indian seamer Zaheer Khan has captured 24 wickets at an average of 18.70 in eleven ODIs – the most by any bowler in 2011, overtaking Brett Lee’s figures of 23 at 19.73 runs apiece in twelve games.
Zaheer has taken his wicket-aggregate in the present edition to 15 at 14.86 runs apiece in six matches – the second highest tally, next only to Shahid Afridi’s 17 at 11.47 runs apiece.
In ODI wins, Zaheer has taken 180 wickets at an average of 22.75 in 107 matches.
*India’s magnificent 80-run win is their biggest over West Indies in the World Cup, eclipsing the 43-run win in the 1983 final at Lord’s.
*India have registered their fourth victory in seven World Cup games against West Indies.
*India is enjoying a success rate of 57.93 percent – 36 victories, 26 losses, one tied and one no-result game out of 64 contested.
*Devon Smith has registered his fifth fifty in ODIs – his first against India. Smith’s 81 off 97 balls is his second best innings at the World Cup – the highest being 107 against Ireland at Mohali last week.
