Dubai : A 21-year-old Pakistani man has been sentenced by a Dubai court to six months in jail for threatening his ex-girlfriend on Facebook.
The court found the man – known only by his initials M.M. – guilty of blackmailing the 18-year-old Pakistani woman – known only as M.K.
He threatened to post photos on the website of them kissing if she did not resume their relationship and agree to marry him, the Gulf News reported.
The man reportedly also threatened the girl’s father that he would go ahead with posting the pictures if he did not accept him as his son-in-law.
M.M. denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.
The girl told the court that M.M. was her boyfriend and they shared an intimate relationship, and he often took their photos.
“We broke up and later he approached me wanting to resume our relationship. When I refused, he threatened to post our intimate photos on Facebook. He threatened that he would show the photos to my parents,” she said.
