In a joint news conference Sunday, Algeria Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci, with his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, said they hoped the “fighting in Libya would end and dialogues would be launched soon”.

“Cuba has earlier condemned foreign intervention in Libya,” said Parrilla, who is undertaking a three-day visit to Algeria, adding his country is “concerned about the killing of innocent civilians there”.

Meanwhile, the African Union (AU) Sunday called for a comprehensive peace dialogue of all concerned parties in Libya.

The AU higher committee on the Libyan issue said in a statement said that “disputing parties in Libya should ceasefire immediately, and launch comprehensive peace dialogue that guarantees Libyan people’s aspirations to democracy, political reforms, justice, peace, security and social development.”
