New Delhi : It was former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s sister-in-law who underwent a knee surgery in a private hospital in New Delhi last week and not his wife, as reported in a section of the media, a Pakistani newspaper has said.
Media reports earlier this week said Sharif’s wife, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, had a surgery at the Fl Lt Rajan Dhall Fortis hospital in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj area.
However, Pakistani newspaper Daily Times reported on Nov 1 quoting “family sources” that the patient was Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz president Shahbaz Sharif’s wife Nusrat Shahbaz.
Meanwhile, hospital authorities here refused to confirm or deny the report.
“We respect patients’ confidentiality. We will not reveal the identity of the patient. Neither the management nor the doctors will say anything about the patient’s identity,” said Sudarshan Mazumdar, a senior official of Fortis Healthcare that manages the hospital.
