Paris : France plans to invite Palestinian and Israeli leaders for peace talks scheduled for September in Paris, a media report said.
France is eager to generate a concrete alternative to stop the long deadly conflict in the Middle East, Xinhua reported citing Europe 1 radio.
French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said he hoped Palestine and Israel could return to the dialogue with more effort from the Middle East Quartet – the European Union, UN, US and Russia.
“France is now planning to organise a donor conference for Palestinians in the first half of September and which would be a conference of peace with Israel,” Europe 1 radio quoted Juppe as saying.
Direct negotiations between Palestine and Israel have not proceeded since 2008.
The Palestinian authority will reportedly ask the UN General Assembly in September to recognise a Palestinian state.
