Eight killed in Iraq violence

Baghdad : At least eight people were killed and nine injured in separate incidents of bomb explosions and gunfire attacks in central and northern Iraq Tuesday, Xinhua reported.

Two soldiers were killed in a roadside bomb explosion near their patrol in eastern Iraqi city of Mosul, some 400 km north of Baghdad, a police source said.

In a separate incident, a roadside bomb explosion killed one policeman and wounded three in a town near Mosul.

A suspected gunman was killed around midday when a bomb he was making detonated in Ameriyat al-Fallujah town, near Fallujah city, some 50 km west of Baghdad, a source said.

Two of the gunman’s family members were also killed by the blast.

Earlier in the day, the police reported the killing of two people and the wounding of six others in separate bomb and gunfire attacks in Iraq’s eastern province of Diyala.

On Monday, at least 66 people were killed and over 230 injured across Iraq in a string of terrorist attacks.
