Menon conferred with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s advisers, Gauhar Rizvi and Masihur Rehman, on the details of key pacts on border demarcation and water-sharing, highly-placed sources said.

More than a dozen pacts are expected to be signed during Manmohan Singh’s Sep 6-7 visit.

Menon also met Bangladesh water resources minister Ramesh Sen amid strong indications that a deal on sharing of Teesta river waters would be inked during Manmohan Singh’s visit.

Menon had last gone on a two-day tour to Dhaka Aug 28 and held talks with Bangladeshi leaders, including Sheikh Hasina, to firm up agreements and review preparations for what is widely seen as a historic visit that could usher in a new era in bilateral ties between the two neighbours.
