Muslim need better educational infrastructure, says AIMPLB general secretary

Patna: “Muslim community has become fully aware about the need for education but in the absence of sufficient educational infrastructure, it is helpless. This was how Maulana Nizamuddin, general secretary All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), highlighted the educational needs of the community while addressing a gathering at a programme titled ‘Govt. sponsored scholarship: Problems and solution’ organized on 10th Sept. at A. N. Sinha Institute in Patna, Bihar.

Maulana Nizamuddin further said that the government as well Muslim organizations must provide the community with better educational infrastructures.

It was an open program organized by Bihar Rabita Committee which proved to be a hard time for Sahid Ali Khan, Bihar Minority Affairs Minister, because he had to face numerous questions regarding problems in getting government sponsored scholarship as well as improper implementation of Minority welfare schemes.

The minister tried to deal with the situation smoothly and assured to solve the problems. He put all the blame on central government, for not cooperating with the state government in the implementation of minority welfare schemes.

He claimed that Nitish government did extraordinary efforts to bring the poor children to schools. “Our scheme to award minority students with Rs. 10,000/ who get first division in matric worked very well. It was launched in 2007 and in the span of four years, the number of student who secure 1st division, got unexpected jump,” the minister said.

“We must avail benefit from government but we, ourselves need to do more. We should think where we are standing in the field of education and technology then outline the ways to go ahead,” Khan further said.


A view of gathering

Speaking on the occasion, RJD MLA, Akhtarul Iman said: “The government may claim to gather crowd at schools and educational centre but it is an undeniable fact that it has failed to provide quality education. Consequently, today many students of class 9 are unable to read the book of class 5 and students of class 5 can’t read book of class 2.”

The programme was attended by politicians, educationists, social activists and students. Bihar Rabita Committee is a registered charitable organization which was established in 1996. It works for the empowerment of marginalized section of the society through social, economical, and educational development.
