New Delhi: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Wednesday praised the ministries of science and technology and earth sciences for their new tsunami warning system called ‘INCOIS’.
Speaking at NDMA’s seventh foundation day, the agency’s vice chairman Shashidhar Reddy also spoke about a new mechanism of probing cyclones through aircraft, in which a C-130J Super Hercules aircraft flies into the eye of an cyclone and provides data.
“This facility is likely to be commissioned by the ministry of earth sciences during the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-13 to 2016-17),” said Reddy.
