Major reshuffle in Tamil Nadu cabinet

Chennai : In a major reshuffle of her cabinet Friday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa dropped six ministers and inducted as many new faces into her cabinet.

According to a statement from Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah’s office, the ministers who were dropped are: N.R. Sivapathi (Animal Husbandry) C. Shanmugavelu (Rural Industries), Budhichandhran (Food), R.B. Udhayakumar (Information and Technology), G. Senthamizhan (Information, Law, Courts and Prisons) and S.P. Shanmuganathan (Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments-HR and CE).

The six new ministers and their portfolios are S. Damodaran (Agriculture), R. Kamaraj (Food), M. Paranjothi (HR and CE, Law, Courts and Prisons), V. Moorthy (Milk and Dairy Development), K.T. Rajenthra Bhalaji (Information and Special Programme Implementation) and S. Sundararaj (Handloom and Textiles).

Jayalalithaa had also recommended reallocation of portfolios of five ministers. Their names and their new portfolios are: K.A. Senkottaiyan (Information Technology), M.C. Sampath (Rural Industries and Nutritious Noon Meal), T.K.M. Chinnayya (Animal Husbandry), B.V. Ramanaa (Environment) and Selvi Ramajayam (Social Welfare).
