Godhra riot witness murdered in Ahmadabad

Ahmedabad: An eye witness of Gujarat riots and a RTI activist, Nadeem Ahmed Sayed, has been stabbed to death today in broad day light by some unidentified persons in Juhapura area of Ahmadabad, Gujarat.

As Nadeem came out of his house at7: am to go somewhere, the assailants stabbed him with sharp weapons several times and fled form the spot. The family members took injured Nadeem to V S Hospital to save his life but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The deceased was a key witness in the Naroda Patiya massacre case where 95 persons were killed on February, 28, 2002 during the communal violence that erupted after the Godhra train burning incident. He had testified in the court where the case trial was on a couple of months back.

Nadeem who was associated with Congress party filed numerous PILs in the Gujarat High Court over sanitation issues in the Johapura area of Ahmadabad. He also filed RTIs on the Godhra riots as well as on civic issues.

Besides, he filed cases against several political leaders in the state. For his brave gesture, he was eye- sore of criminals and corrupt people against whom he raised voice. It was evident with the last year incident in which he was brutally assaulted by local goons and now he has been killed.

According to Police, the attackers are on the run and their identity was not yet known. A case has been registered against the unknown persons and further investigation is going on.
