Eight die in drone strike in Pakistan

Islamabad : At least eight people were killed and four injured Wednesday when US drones fired four missiles at a suspected militant hideout in Pakistan’s northwest tribal area of South Waziristan, a media report.

The strike took place at about 10 a.m. and the target was a house suspected of being a hideout of militants in a hilly area of Jandola, reported Xinhua citing a TV channel.

Identities of the dead was not immediately known.

On Tuesday morning, the US drones launched a strike in the neighbouring tribal area of North Waziristan, killing seven suspected militants.

A total of 524 people, most of whom are believed to be suspected militants, have reportedly been killed in such strikes so far this year.
