The rebels stormed into the two-storeyed building at Geedam town, some 10 km away from Dantewada, and blew up the building which was built by the state government at a cost of Rs.3.5 million, ready to be handed over to the police department.

“It was a daring act of Maoists to engineer a massive blast at the new police station building as it was based in an urban area and close to the national highway,” Ankit Garg, superintendent of police told reporters here.

He added that the police would be doing its best to track down the rebels who blew up the building.

“No arrest has been made so far, no Maoist has been tracked down for the Geedam blast but I am hopeful of making some arrests in the case soon,” Garg said.
