General Secretary, WPI, SQR Ilyas candidly admitted that their outfit may not get the desired results but it will be able to spread its agenda. “We are in nascent stage and our organisational structure is also not complete in the state. We do not have units in every district so we are contesting as a symbolic representation only on seven seats,” said Ilyas.

Ilyas also stated that the platform of the elections will be utilized by the WPI in spreading their agenda. “We will reach out to the people with our ideals and explain our viewpoint. We will disseminate our agenda among the people,” said Ilyas.

The seats which have been shortlisted where WPI will be contesting are Saharanpur, Deoband, Moradabad (rural), Sambhal, Bilaspur, Milk and Kanpur (Cantt).

Ilyas stated that WPI is committed for bringing value based politics and to put an end to the rampant corruption in political and social scenes. “We feel that most of the parties in the scene are more interested in protecting the interests of certain individuals and corporate houses. Thus step-motherly treatment is given to the Muslims. We guarantee justice, freedom and liberty,” he said.
